YAAKS

The wonders of the Internet are pretty weird sometimes, i was listening to Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music yesterday and a band called Yaaks came on. "Wow, their good i must go looking for them." And of course i put yacks into google instead of yaaks and that started a long and enduring hunger to find this stunning band. I was just about to give up after going thought about about 300 friends of friends on Myspace when i came across a band who's name is pretty close to me.
They were called Hurstpierpoint, that's really bizarre, cos that's were I'm from, out of all the names in all the world and the fact that i come across them by accident. Its a strange old world.

Anyway I did find the band i went out looking for in the first place, and i really can't stop listening to them. I'm listening to them now, they only have two songs and a little clip called "Demo 2 Sample". Now no one seems to know anything about band apart from the very minimalistic Myspace they have up, only saying "Yaaks are six minds playing music to best portray the thoughts of Jean Jacques Rousseau" and their from Eastbourne.
But don't let Eastbourne put you off, the first two songs are just some of the best music i have heard in a long time.
HRHRHYTHM by YAAKS

The first song called HRHRythm sounds like the dreamy state of MGMT with what sounds like the singing voice of Ed Larrikin, expected cowbells!
BRKLYN FIG 1 (DEMO) by YAAKS
The second song BRKYLN is great, i love the trumpets in the background and the general rhythm of the track; the predominant base line and continuation of the guitar riffs.  It makes you wanna jump up and dance in you living room or bedroom or wherever!!
